About Kashipur
Kashipur is a city of Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, and one of its seven subdivisions. Located in the western part of Udham Singh Nagar district, it is Kumaun's third most populous city and the sixth most populous in Uttarakhand. The weather of Kashipur in the month of February is pleasant with a high of early twenties and low of around 15 degrees Celsius. Major tourist attraction includes Drona Sagar Lake, and various ancient temples including nearby Jim Corbett national Park, and hill stations such as Nainital, Bhimtal, Almora etc. Kashipur is well connected by different modes of transport and has a railway station having connectivity with New Delhi, Lucknow, Dehradun, etc. The nearest airport is Pantnagar airport which is around 71 km from the Kashipur city.

1. Jim Corbett National Park
The Jim Corbett National Park is a part of the largest Corbett Tiger Reserve; the Project Tiger lies in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The Majestic landscape of Corbett is well-known for its tiger richness. Established in the year 1936 as Hailey National Park, Corbett has the glory of being India’s oldest and most prestigious National Park. It is also being honoured as the place where Project Tiger was first launched in the year 1973. This Unique tiger territory is best known as the father who gave birth to Project Tiger in India to safeguard the most endangered species and the Royal wild animal of India called Tigers.
2. Nainital
Nainital, the charming Himalayan Lake town, is a picture-postcard perfect hill-station and one of the most popular in Northern India. Commonly known as the ‘Lake District’, Nainital is nestled high up in the Kumaon Himalayas at an altitude of around 2,000 m above sea level. This beautiful town in surrounded by seven hills, popularly known as ‘Sapta-Shring’ – Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi-Bandi, Naina, Alma, Lariya-Kanta and Sher-Ka-Danda. The majestic mountains and the sparkling waters of the lake add an immense lot to the beauty of the town. The town is centred around the emerald mountain lake Naini, which on most days is dotted with colourful sailboats. According to mythology, the lake is believed to have been formed when the eyes of goddess “Sati” fell at this spot while her body was being carried by Lord Shiva after her death.
3. Chaiti Devi Temple
Maa Bal Sundari Devi temple (Chaiti Mandir) is situated at Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The temple is also known as Jwala Devi Mandir and Ujjaini Devi. It is one of the most popular temples of Kashipur. Many devotees come here to enrapture in the spiritual bliss and to pay regards at the holy shrine. The temple is named Ujjaini Devi after the old Ujjain fort of Kashipur town nestled near Drona Sagar.
4. Drona Sagar
Drona Sagar Lake is nestled in the quaint town of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The pristine lake is associated with Guru Dronacharya, the royal guru of the Kauravas and Pandavas of the epic Mahabharatha. According to a famous legend, the Pandavas created the Drona Sagar Lake for their Guru Dronacharya as Guru Dakshina, which literally suggests paying back the dues of the teacher through a wise gift. As cited in the Puranas (holy text), the water of Drona Sagar was as divine as the water of river Ganga. Once a pristine pond, the Lake is surrounded by various temples. At present, the Archaeological Survey of India protects this place.
5. Gurudwara Shri Nankana Sahib
Gurudwara Nankana Sahib is located in Kashipur in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. Gurdwara Shri Nankana Sahib is associated with the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji who came here after having visited Sri Nanakmatta and Nanakpuri Tanda.
